Practical tips to maximize ROI on SR&ED, R&D, technical strategy, infrastructure, and practical founder challenges - especially in the AI/ML space. Under 5 mins, 2x month.
Hi Reader, Welcome to 2025’s first edition of Product for Founders, a newsletter for tech and $ savvy founders! We focus on AI must-knows for solid product decisions and the Canadian SR&ED program. What’s up for today? > 2 free tax and SR&ED resources from our team > 2 more model tidbits - agents and an AI physics engine Read time: 3 mins 2 Free tax and SR&ED resources from our teamWe are collaborating with Vipul Jain Consulting to bring you a webinar series covering two exciting topics. They are designed for YOU as a Founder and Business Owner!
Sign up for one or both webinars here. PS - If you already work with Inference PM (Us) - we’ve already got you covered for #2. So feel free to skip the session. 2 More Model TidbitsAI Agents: The New Kids on the Block What’s this about? They are autonomous intelligent systems, that go beyond automations. The former can perceive their environment, make non-deterministic decisions, and aim to achieve a goal. They execute complex tasks with little or no human supervision. They often have distinct modules for profiling (their reason for existence), memory (past actions and their outcomes), planning (think ahead to achieve a goal) and action (execute on decisions from the planning module). Should you care? Yes! Think of them as your digital employees, capable of handling complex workflows. Some practical applications in the near term are improved customer service tooling for support and retail sales, internal process automation for CRMs, project management, onboarding and much more. Implications for SR&ED? If you plan to work with solution providers like ToothFairy AI, the bulk of the work will likely be ineligible since it counts as integration (of course there may be innovation required for integration itself). However, if you’re building your agent from scratch (think tools like AutoGPT or Pythogora), or if an off-the shelf agent requires significant rework - let’s chat - your SR&ED eligibility is likely high. Still curious? Check out this Langchain article series exploring agentic AI systems. Genesis: The AI Physics Simulator Shaking Things Up What’s this about? Genesis is a new open-source AI physics simulator that's turning heads. It can simulate complex physical systems at lightning speed, from fluid dynamics to robotics, and even render photo-realistic 3d worlds. Should you care? If you're working on products in computer vision,, robotics or physical products absolutely! Genesis could revolutionize how you build and test prototypes. Imagine creating virtual prototypes in seconds, testing them in complex scenarios, and getting results faster than you can say "pivot." This could mean:
The best part? It's open-source and easy to set up. Here's a quick sample that I ran in <10 mins. Still curious? Check out their github here. That's all for now, founders! Stay curious & keep innovating. Let's build together, Varsha |
